Hand Sewn

For the last few week I have been working on Hand Sewn Hexagon Patchwork, I have never done this before so this is my first attempt. I have tried patchwork before, (squares and miss match) but the squares only lined up halfway through the project the rest did not line up.

So far I am pretty happy with it, as I thought it would be harden than it seems. I am giving this to my younger cousin for her Silver Cross Pram (well mine, from when I was younger). Although it isn’t like I really have a choice she has said she is having it, so at least someone else likes it so far as well as just me.

On another note this is Jesse, (a white Alsatian) she is my partners dog. This was taken three month ago when she was either 9 week or 13 week old. (She is now either 25/26week or 29/30 week, and quite a bit bigger than in the picture). She is a big softie, and loves to play all the time, or go lay in the cold.

Close up

Just a quick post as I am bust sewing away with Hexagon hand sewn patchwork.
Still continuing from my childhood memories project. These images are of the pictures I hand embroidered and appliquéd on my table cloth.

The images are of my cousin Mia 6, the proper pictures make me laugh, she’s so cute, i love her to bits.. They are also her shoes and bags, she has loads like a proper girly girl.

Catching up.

As I am trying to catch up with things on my blog I am going to carry on from where I finished, with more from my childhood memories project.
This is what I made for my final major project at university, I wanted to do a children’s tea party . I wanted it all girly and flowery, so I used mainly pastel colours with hand embroidery, beads, appliqué and patchwork (miss match patchwork).

I really enjoyed making this, I have to say it is my favourite piece of work I have made, (along side my Egyptian theme table runner, that I will post at a later date).

I made, chair cushions, personalised party bags, a table cloth, party buntings and wall art.

I did intend to make place mats, coasters and napkins along with beading and embroidery on all the chair cushions, but I didn’t have time to bead on all four so only one got my attention on that.

For the embroidered images on my table cloth, I used images of my younger cousin Mia 6, along with some of her shoes and bags. She was so made up with it, she couldn’t stop showing it off and has said she wants it for her party, along with the party buntings and wall art for her room, that contain some pictures she has drawn for me over the past few years.

(I shall put pictures of the images sewn onto my table cloth on tomorrow when i have more time).

Childhood memories.

So it been quite a while since I last posted, well five month in fact.

The last thing I posted was of one of my pages in my sketchbook from my childhood memories project, so I have decided to post the rest of my images from my sketchbook work, from this project.

I started by painting images of baby toys, I then moved onto line drawings of family photos, because every one has photos from when they were children. Next I chose to paint images of objects from the beach, e.g.) buckets, spades, beach huts, shells. I chose to do butterflies and flowers next, as where there are flowers there are butterflies. I chose to use letters and numbers next, as well as balloons, bubbles and dressing up masks. Through out these pages, I used Gouache paint, watercolours, collage and line drawings. (My images look different when you look at them in my sketchbook, as I scanned them into my computer.)

I really enjoyed this project, as I have grown up with a lot of younger cousins, and many childhood memories that I would like to remember for a long time to come.

(Here goes for my manny images)
